Exotic by name and by nature the Conures' are a large group of small to medium sized and coloured parrots originating from the America's. Conures in recent years particularly of the genus Pyrrhura have become increasingly popular amougst aviculturalists and pet bird owners worldwide. Reasons for this include their beauty, affectionate nature, ease of keeping and pet qualities as well as the fact that many conures are small and quiet enough to be kept in apartments.

A number of species of Conure are currently kept within Australia with some species once rarely seen beggining to be bred in increasing numbers thus reducing the price but not the beauty.
